Palmetto Pole & Piling

Founded in 2015

The scenario of larger corporations purchasing smaller providers led to fewer suppliers in the marketplace and less focus and attention being given to locally owned, single location businesses. Having been in the pole and piling industry for several years, our founder, “Skee” Nichols believed this situation presented an opportunity for a new company, with a tried-and-true strategy, to enter the industry and put the focus back where it belongs.

Our History

Locally owned, regionally focused businesses form the core of the Marine construction field, as well as the very backbone of American industry in general. We were created with that thought as our guiding principle, and it is still the core value by which we operate our business to this day. That philosophy has allowed Palmetto Pole & Piling to enjoy an annual growth rate in the double digits since our founding. After establishing ourselves in the industry and ensuring we could manage the growth of our business in an intelligent, capable manner the decision was made to expand the breadth of our product offerings to include lumber. Most of our timber pole and piling clients also have use for various sizes and grades of lumber. Though that is the case P&P did not choose to offer lumber products to our client base from the day we opened our doors. We initially focused exclusively on our core business concept, the sale of timber poles and piling. Once we began to establish ourselves as a quality business partner in that area, we had to ensure our rapid growth did not lead to a decrease in our performance levels. Only after we were certain of that, did we opt to begin offering lumber products to our customers.

Our Services

Most of our products are made from Southern Yellow Pine, which is a strong, durable wood, ideal for use in the marine construction industry; however, customers may occasionally request products sourced from a species other than Pine. Palmetto Pole & Piling can meet the needs of those customers as well. Regarding chemical treatment of our products, we offer treatment levels ranging from dried, untreated wood up to products treated for use in the most challenging of environments, saltwater immersion.
